Season 1 Episode 3 Pulse Edition

Episode 3: Shadows of Fear
Runtime: 60 minutes

ACT 1 — BIRTH OF THE DREADBOUND (0:00–15:00)

Flashbacks:
We meet the four members of the newly formed Dreadbound: Gravemind, Phobia, Socia, and Breach. Each was once a normal person, slowly worn down by anxiety until the Rift twisted their pain into something dangerous.

  • Maya Brooks (Gravemind): A highly organized executive assistant, Maya hides constant panic behind a polished exterior. When she misses a call from her father’s caregiver, it sends her spiraling into a panic attack. The Rift hits at that moment, turning her into Gravemind, the embodiment of unrelenting worry.
  • Dr. Travis Crane (Phobia): A germophobic zoologist who avoids even harmless animals out of fear. When a gecko startles him in his garage, his terror triggers the Rift, transforming him into Phobia, who can turn fear into hallucinations.
  • Erin Dae-Sung (Socia): A quiet, anxious art student who avoids people and hides behind her phone. When asked to present her art publicly, she freezes, humiliated. Her social anxiety is amplified by the Rift, becoming Socia, who spreads the fear of rejection and invisibility.
  • Miles Foster (Breach): A foster child haunted by the memory of losing his sister to psychiatric care. When he’s briefly separated from his new guardian, his deep fear of being left alone triggers the Rift, turning him into Breach, a force of abandonment and loss.

Together, they become the Dreadbound—each shaped by fear, now feeding it.

ACT 2 — MISFIRED STRATEGIES (15:00–25:00)

At CRC:
The Vital Five are reeling from their last mission. They’ve won, but tension is building.

  • Mira (Solace): Absorbing everyone’s emotions is wearing her down. She quietly pulls away from the group, feeling like she has to carry everyone’s pain.
  • Noah (Kairo): Doubts his ability to be the team’s calm center. Under pressure, his focus slips, and his meditation techniques stop working.
  • Lex (Pax): Feels like he’s failing to hold the group together emotionally. His need to stay in control isolates him.
  • June (Schema): Tries to keep up by overanalyzing everything. Her emotions are buried under logic, and she feels increasingly alone.
  • Lina (Vita): She’s running on fumes. Constantly trying to energize others is leaving her completely drained.

Team Conflict:
A heated argument breaks out. Mira argues for emotional honesty; Lex insists they need structure. Noah tries to balance both, while June pushes for pure strategy.

Captain Trask storms in, scolding them for wasting time. But Dr. Ezra steps in, leading them through a brief grounding exercise.

Dr. Ezra:
“You’re not here because you’re flawless. You’re here because you care. Your pain doesn’t make you weak—it makes you real. And that’s where your strength lives.”

ACT 3 — PANIC IN THE CITY (25:00–38:00)

Downtown Chaos:
The Vital Five respond to a crisis in downtown Serenvale. People are panicking, muttering to themselves, avoiding each other. The air feels charged with fear.

As the team moves deeper, they realize it’s not random. This fear is being created and spread intentionally.

  • Mira: “This isn’t natural. Someone is controlling the fear.”
  • Noah: “It’s growing fast. It’s like the fear’s alive.”
  • Lex: “They’re hitting people where it hurts most—right in the mind.”
  • June: “This is a system. Someone is targeting the entire city emotionally.”
  • Lina: “It’s not just panic anymore—it’s a weapon.”

The Villains Appear:

  • Gravemind (Maya): Her presence alone sends waves of anxiety, freezing people in fear.
“Fear surrounds you. Let me show you how small it makes you.”
  • Phobia (Travis): Projects vivid illusions of people’s worst fears.
“You don’t run from fear—you live in it.”
  • Socia (Erin): Radiates rejection, making everyone feel invisible and unwanted.
“No one sees you. No one ever will.”
  • Breach (Miles): Sparks deep fear of abandonment, isolating people emotionally.
“Everything you love will leave you behind.”

Team Realization:

  • Mira: “They’re not just spreading fear—they are fear.”
  • Noah: “We fight fear by facing it. Together.”
  • Lex: “If we separate, they win.”
  • June: “We have to take back control of the mind.”
  • Lina: “We fight with connection and strength. Let’s do this.”

ACT 4 — FEARS UNLEASHED (38:00–50:00)

The Battle:
The villains hit hard—fear flooding every corner of the battlefield.

  • Mira: Nearly crushed by the flood of anxious energy from Gravemind.
  • Noah: Loses control of time as terrifying illusions disrupt his focus.
  • Lex: Slips emotionally, unable to stabilize the group under Socia’s influence.
  • June: Breach brings up her deepest fears of failure, leaving her scattered.
  • Lina: Her energy fades fast, the fear of not being enough sapping her power.

Turning the Tide:
Each hero finds a way to fight back—not by pushing fear away, but by confronting it:

  • Mira reflects Gravemind’s fear back at her using empathy.
  • Noah regains focus and slows down key moments to help the team regroup.
  • Lex opens up emotionally, stabilizing the team through connection, not control.
  • June rebuilds mental links, disrupting the fear-driven isolation.
  • Lina taps into joy and resilience, pushing life back into the team.

ACT 5 — THE TEAM OVERCOMES (50:00–58:00)

The Dreadbound starts to fall apart under the team’s renewed unity and strength. One by one, the villains are pushed back.

But before vanishing into the shadows, each delivers a chilling warning:

  • Gravemind: “You’ll never outrun your own fear.”
  • Phobia: “We’ll return, and next time, you’ll fall.”
  • Socia: “Fear always finds a crack.”
  • Breach: “Abandonment never truly leaves.”

ACT 6 — AFTERMATH AND THE VILLAINS’ RETREAT (58:00–60:00)

Back at CRC:
The Vital Five reflect on what just happened. They’re shaken—but stronger. They faced their fears and helped others do the same.

Dr. Ezra enters, calm and encouraging:

Dr. Ezra:
“You’ve learned something vital. Fear isn’t just an enemy—it’s a mirror. When you face it together, it loses its power.”

Epilogue:
In a shadowy alley, the Dreadbound regroups.

  • Gravemind: “They think they’ve won. But the true battle is only beginning.”

The Rift pulses ominously behind them.

End of Episode.
