Season 1 Episode 4: Pulse Edition

Episode 4: Storm of the Heart

Runtime: 60 minutes

ACT 1 – BEFORE THE FALL (0:00 – 15:00)

Flashbacks:

We open with two deeply emotional origin stories—introducing the newest Rift-born villains: Highfall and Cyclone.

  • Liana Calderon (Highfall) is a quiet poetry blogger who struggles with depression. After a rare moment of confidence, performing a poem for a small crowd, she retreats into silence—overwhelmed by sadness and self-doubt. When the Rift hits, it finds her collapsed in the dark, torn between her fleeting hope and the heavy shadow always following her. She becomes Highfall, a being who traps others in emotional despair.
(Theme: Light that flickers, darkness that lingers.)
  • Jordan Vance (Cyclone) is a talented but emotionally unstable artist. He thrives on bursts of creative mania, but when his work is harshly criticized online, his anger explodes. In a fit of self-destruction, he destroys his own gallery during a rooftop show. The Rift strikes as his rage peaks, transforming him into Cyclone—his emotional storms now literal, and lethal.
(Theme: Chaos born from unbalanced emotion.)

Their inner struggles become weapons. Highfall manipulates emotional despair; Cyclone commands raw, chaotic energy. The emotional storm is coming.

ACT 2 – BREAK ON THE BEACH (15:00 – 25:00)

A rare moment of peace.

The Vital Five try to enjoy a short break at the beach, but the cracks beneath the surface are starting to show.

  • Lina (Vita) and Noah (Kairo) build an elaborate sandcastle, their laughter a little too forced—especially from Lina, who’s hiding how drained she feels.
  • Lex (Pax) lounges under an umbrella with a book, but he’s clearly not reading—his mind racing, fingers tapping, too wired to relax.
  • June (Schema) studies seagulls in flight, trying to draw order from the chaos—but her thoughts won’t slow down.
  • Mira (Solace) meditates by the water, sensing that their calm won’t last.

Then the call comes.

Rosa Alvarez, Dr. Ezra’s assistant, reaches out for the first time.

Rosa: “Hi, this is Rosa Alvarez. I work with Dr. Ezra. We have a situation. Urgent.”

A Rift-altered individual—Jordan Vance—has lost control. His sister Sophie tracked him to a warehouse downtown. She’s desperate to help, and insists on going with the team.

The beach day ends. The storm begins.

ACT 3 – A SISTER’S PLEA (25:00 – 35:00)

At CRC headquarters:

The team meets Sophie Vance, Jordan’s older sister. She’s shaken, heartbroken, and terrified.

Sophie: “He’s not my brother anymore. But I can’t give up on him. Please. Help me bring him back.”

Dr. Ezra warns the team—Jordan’s powers are tied to his emotions. He’s unstable. And dangerous. But Sophie might be their only way in.

Dr. Ezra (via comms): “Don’t underestimate him. And don’t lose sight of the person he used to be.”

The team prepares for a delicate, dangerous mission. This won’t be a fight—it’ll be a rescue, if they’re lucky.

ACT 4 – WHISPERS IN THE WAREHOUSE (35:00 – 45:00)

The warehouse is silent, dark, and thick with tension.

As they move deeper in, the air turns heavy. Emotionally and literally.

  • Mira senses sadness so dense it nearly drowns her—Highfall is here.
  • Noah can’t steady time. The energy is too wild—Cyclone is near.
  • Lex feels everyone’s anxiety building. He can’t anchor it.
  • June can’t think clearly. Doubt is everywhere.
  • Lina is exhausted already, just trying to keep going.

Then, the villains step out of the shadows.

Highfall: “You’re too late. The storm’s already here.”
Cyclone (to Sophie): “You shouldn’t have come. I’m not your brother anymore—I’m the chaos you always feared.”

Sophie pleads with him.
He pushes her away, his pain turning into a swirling, furious wind.

What the team realizes too late is that Highfall’s depression is fueling Cyclone’s rage, and together they’re spiraling out of control.

ACT 5 – THE STORM STRIKES (45:00 – 55:00)

The fight begins—and the team is overwhelmed.

  • Mira nearly collapses under Highfall’s emotional weight.
  • Noah is flung by Cyclone’s winds, unable to center himself.
  • Lex can’t keep the team steady—the emotions are too strong.
  • June struggles to read the chaos, her focus slipping.
  • Lina is running on empty. She can’t keep everyone afloat.

Then, they shift.

They stop trying to overpower the storm—and instead, face it.

  • Mira uses her empathy to reflect Highfall’s sadness back, gently breaking through the emotional fog.
  • Noah finds stillness in his breath, slowing time enough for the others to regroup.
  • Lex opens up, letting go of his need for control. In that honesty, the team stabilizes.
  • June focuses, rewriting the emotional map around them.
  • Lina digs deep, summoning just enough strength to reignite the team’s energy.

Together, they calm the storm.

They don’t destroy Cyclone or Highfall—but they break the emotional link binding them.

ACT 6 – AFTERSHOCKS (55:00 – 60:00)

The storm subsides. The villains flee.

Cyclone: “You haven’t seen the worst of me.”
Highfall: “You’ve delayed it, that’s all. The storm always returns.”

They vanish into the shadows.

Sophie’s grief boils over.

Sophie (to the team): “You let him go. He’s still lost—and now I’ve lost him too.”

She storms off, leaving the team in silence.

The Vital Five may have prevented destruction, but they couldn’t save Jordan. Not this time. The emotional weight of failure hangs heavy.

In the final moments:

Cyclone (to Highfall): “Next time, they’ll regret it. I’ll make sure of that.”
Highfall: “The storm’s just begun.”
